Emergency contraception can help prevent pregnancy if you have had unprotected sex or the contraceptive method you have used has not been sufficient e.g. condom splitting.
You can be provided with a tablet (the morning after pill) up to five days after the unprotected sex. The coil can also be used within 5 days as well but this would need to be arranged via the family planning clinic as we do not fit emergency coils at the surgery.
