Petes Dragons

Petes Dragons, comfort after suicide loss.

Everyone affected by suicide will have a unique experience through the grieving process and it is extremely important that timely and appropriate support is available. Pete’s Dragons provide a bespoke service to anyone in Devon who has been affected in this way.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably states that suicide is currently the leading cause of death for young men in England and Wales. The World Health Organisation has identified that in the last 45 years suicide rates have increased by 60% worldwide and that suicide is now among the three leading causes of death among men and women aged 15-44.

The Office of National Statistics notes that Cornwall has one of the highest suicide rates in the UK. In real terms, that is roughly 17 deaths by suicide in the UK everyday. Each of those deaths results in 20-60 people being significantly affected. Therefore there are, on average, 340-1,020 people each and every day who become bereaved by suicide. They will experience shock, trauma, distress often coupled with shame, guilt and stigma which can leave them isolated as they struggle to come to terms with their lived experience of losing a loved one in this way.

Call them on 01395 277 780, or visit one of there locations (appointment only).
